Instructions
1: Slice the yellow onion, green bell pepper, and green onion. 2: Clean the chicken, remove the skins from the chicken thighs and drumsticks, and cut the thighs in half. 3: In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken with the onion, bell pepper, green onion, all the seasonings, browning sauce, and thyme. Mix well and marinate for at least one hour or overnight. 4: In a heavy bottom pot on medium heat, brown the chicken on each side for about 1 to 2 minutes, then place it in a bowl. 5: Return all the chicken to the pot, add the broth and mix in the remaining ingredients from the marinating bowl. 6: Pour all the vegetables, seasonings, and broth into the pot with the chicken. 7: Increase heat to medium-high, add the ginger, garlic, bay leaves, and ketchup. Incorporate gently and bring to a slight boil. 8: Lower the heat to medium, cover, and cook for 25 minutes. 9: Add carrots and butter beans, and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes.View original recipe
